Coming Home
Aug 11, 2025
I wrote this piece in a writing workshop… which turned into a pledge to my inner child.
Dear sweet one.
Come here by me.
I want to see you and be with you.
I want you to stand by my steadiness.
I will hold it for you. I am strong, able, alive, capable.
No need to go out there by yourself afraid.
No need to be so wobbly when I am right here for you.
Come home
Come close oh little soul,
I will keep you safe,
You can cry here and be free too
You can laugh here,
I will stay steady for you.
We can whisper together.
I will hold the umbrella, I will hold the flashlight, and make sure you have boots on for the romping we will do up ahead.
Come close sweetie.
I hold out my arm and sweep you near me.
Come home.
I am here
I have not gone anywhere.
I promised you, oh so long ago, I’d never abandon you. Never leave. No matter who left.
I will keep you safe.
Come here.
No need to wander the streets alone anymore, no more scary places.
No need for that lostness, that darkness.
I will scoop you up and keep you safe forevermore.
Come here – little sweet one.
I know who you are.
I see your tears, and pain, I see how afraid you are in this life all alone.
Bask here, with me. No words, nothing to say.
We can be in the quiet together.
I see you play with beads, jump with delight with songs and dances.
I see how funny you are.
I see your adventure and love and pure rosy cheerful heart.
I will bask here with you.
Fresh beginning
Always
Every day a new opening.
Brighter lights
Hope that blinds and joy that bellows
Come here and bask in these moments
I’m so happy I saw how I could help you by whisking you toward me.
This is our place now.
